Monsanto Co. (MON: 47.71, 0, 0%) has agreed to pay a fine of $2.5 million for the misbranding of its cotton-seed products, according to a press release from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The settlement marks the largest civil administrative penalty to be enforced as part of the federal regulations governing the sale and use of insecticide, fungicide and rodenticide, the EPA said.

"This agreement shows that when a company violates the law by distributing misbranded pesticides, EPA will take action," said Cynthia Giles, assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, in a statement. “The regulated community should understand that we take these violations seriously, and the public will accept nothing less than compliance.”

What our clients say...

"Uptake was quicker and management side was much quicker. We used to have everything on an excel spreadsheet and tick the people off as paperwork arrived, then used emails manually, PolicyPoint allowed us to do it in three weeks. Last year we started around the same time (early November) and the final ones were being done around end of January and early February. Three weeks tops and it was done this year."
